Welp, things can never go exactly as planned, can they?
Our move has unfortunately been delayed. Amanda and I are going to do our best to process orders that don't include Just CrossStitch Halloween over this weekend so you won't have even more of a delay in getting your goodies.
Read on for an explanation about the delay!
Our new office space is more of a light industrial thing than where we've been for the past two years. It has a sink, though, which will make fabric dyeing much easier on us. However, the previous tenant had stored odd smelling chemicals in giant sealed vats in our space.
We were hoping that airing the space out and giving the floors a good scrub (or five) would get rid of the lingering smell, but that sadly wasn't the case. So we reached out to our new property manager to see about having the space painted, since it's very likely the weird smell is just baked into the paint. And since we sell fabrics and threads, we can't have funky smells in the space.
The manager found a local company who said they could get the space painted this past week (the last week of May), and we thought all was going well! But... he wasn't getting a response from the company. He finally got in touch with their scheduling person, who told him that she needed to check in with the crew, but she thought they could do it next week (the first week in June).
So our manager called back on Friday to check, and the scheduling person was out sick.
😐
We're running under the assumption that the space will be painted during the first week in June, but we won't find out until hopefully Monday morning. None of us are particularly happy about the delays, but what else can we do?
Luckily our landlady in our current space is absolutely amazing and is letting us stay until our new space is ready to move into. So here's hoping we'll get this dealt with quickly next week so we can MOVE.
I'll update once we get confirmation about the painting date, but regular orders may still be delayed for a week or so until we can get our stuff moved and organized.
Thank you all so much for your patience and support!
