Curglaff - Cross Stitch Pattern
"Curglaff is the first in a series of designs that are based on English words that have fallen into disuse. Curglaff, as you can see, is the shock felt in bathing when one first plunges into cold water. It’s that zing that you feel. Yeowch. And the unfortunate Paul Morphy, American Chess master from the 1800s, met an untimely demise in 1884 New Orleans due to that shock.
Curglaff was originally designed as a gift chart for the Mittagong Stitchers Retreat in Australia in November 2019. My dear friend Michelle introduced me to the book of “retired” English words. Next in the series is Chatterbroth."
